Diana’s creative genius as a teacher stems from both her understanding of text, theatrical technique, and story telling, as well as from her understanding of how children learn. She taps into their individual developmental stages and nurtures the creativity of their young minds. She teaches them to interact with others and their environment. She teaches them the power of movement, gesture, and language to express the humanity inherent in the dynamics and drama of human relationships.
The Strange Bedfellows is a collaboration of trained actors, parents and friends in this community. As a member of this lively and adventurous group, I have enjoyed performing in many productions. I have marveled at Diana’s knowledge, analysis, creativity, and generosity in teaching us and allowing us to explore drama through Shakespeare. It has also given me a new perspective on her genius for teaching the children the world that is theatre.

Having Stage Managed many Shakespearean productions for the NY Shakespeare Festival both at the Public Theatre and in the Park, I know how difficult it is to rehearse, tech and run such a production... And that's when it is being rehearsed and performed by professional adults. Now imagine taking a large group of children, some of whom have never even seen a play of any kind, and going through the same process. Diana not only does all of those things, but she also designs and builds the sets, costumes and lights for her shows. Amazing.
I have watched her in both the rehearsal and tech process on several shows that my son has had the privilege of acting in. Diana's devotion, energy and patience are astounding. For seventeen years she has been producing and directing wonderful, creative shows with the children of Rockland County. I defy anyone to accomplish what Diana Green has - it is truly a feat of the highest magnitude.

Diana’s belief in the theatre and theatre education is connected to her belief in something larger than herself. She has shown the children, that through theatre, you can contribute; you can master the craft of acting and take part in one of the oldest art forms. It takes this kind of mentorship and belief in the craft to truly be an excellent teacher and Diana has it in spades. Her mastery of Directing is outstanding. I honestly do not know why she hasn’t directed at The Public theatre. Her command of the language, use of space, conceptual design and deep passion for theatre exudes from her every pore. ... I was blessed to work beside her as a young actress, but I am more humbled and inspired when I see what she has created recently. I cannot say enough about Diana’s talent as an educator, I am in awe of her endless surrender to this magical world we know and love, the theatre!

I'm not sure I conveyed to you sufficiently how wonderful I think this production is. Your direction is very, very skillful and sensitive. It is such an odd play, but you've managed to move it along beautifully, engagingly...and, most of all, poetically.
The passion you have for what you do shows in every little detail, but also in every breathless twinkling of understanding as Shakespeare's words engage something deep in the actors and therefore in us. You are a brave woman doing brave things.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself at your ROMEO last night. The kids were concentrated, many of them actually listened to each other as if they were receiving the impact of the other characters' words for the first time... Questions and Answers were interesting... Loved it and wanted to thank you for investing in such an important product.
We were totally unprepared for the sheer delight of your production. I congratulate you for the tremendous job you have been doing, the obvious joy you have given so many children and the obvious directorial skills to bring it all to life. I was so impressed with the mirth and subtlety of the way the children embodied their parts – it all seemed so natural! – you should be very proud!
I am writing because I was tremendously moved and impressed by the production. Coriolanus is not exactly the typical high school Shakespeare play, and I had, frankly, low expectations of both the play and the production. I was, however, absolutely blown away.
The student actors were confident, articulate, engaged, fully professional, and had awesome diction. The direction was tight, exciting, innovative, and fun. (Massive kudos on the laser battle!!!!)
My daughter was utterly inspired and jumped immediately on the idea of doing the two summer workshops, as well as auditioning to join the company.
So all I can say is thank you, for inspiring my daughter to fall in love with Shakespeare, and for giving me such a great evening!
It is very rare that I come across people in my life who make such a powerful impression on me, and you are at the top of that very short list!
